Odisha Chief Minister Announces Hike In Remuneration Of Temporary Teachers
The Odisha government on Friday announced an increase in the remuneration for temporary teachers alongside the regularisation of services for individuals who successfully cleared the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET).
As per a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik affirmed the decision. Under the announcement, temporary teachers, referred to as ‘Gana Sikshyaks,’ who haven’t passed the OTET, will receive a boosted remuneration. Their monthly pay will elevate from the current Rs 7,000 to Rs 10,000, benefiting 1,121 Gana Sikshyaks, the statement said.
Additionally, Patnaik disclosed plans for the regularization of services for Gana Sikshyaks who have cleared the OTET. Consequently, they will transition into assistant teachers. The move is anticipated to benefit a total of 1,472 such teachers, as per the statement.
Besides, the assistant teachers who have cleared the OTET and do not get annual increments now will also receive yearly increments. It will benefit 9,520 such teachers, it said.
The decision will benefit a total of 12,113 Gana Sikshyaks in the state, the statement added.
It is noteworthy to highlight that Gana Sikhyaks in Odisha have been advocating for regularisation and increased pay for the past five years.
