OnePlus explains UFS storage for OnePlus 12R, says it only has UFS 3.1 and not UFS 4.0
OnePlus has broken its silence on the debate that has been going on around OnePlus 12R’s UFS storage version. The company has clarified in its latest community post that its new premium 5G phone has UFS 3.1 and not UFS 4.0, which was accidentally stated on the official site.
“During the launch of the OnePlus 12R, we announced Trinity Engine, a new set of software algorithms that help keep your phone’s memory and storage running fast and smooth for years to come. Due to an error, we stated that the storage enhanced by Trinity Engine would be UFS 4.0 in some variants. I can now confirm that the storage in all variants of the OnePlus 12R is still enhanced by Trinity Engine but is actually UFS 3.1,” OnePlus explained.
But, is UFS 3.1 storage not good? Well, many of the mid-range premium phones come with the same tech and you will find the latest UFS 4.0 storage solution in mostly high-end flagship phones, barring a few lower-priced phones. While it is slightly slower than UFS 4.0, the same tech has been used by many flagship phones and people will get efficient performance.
OnePlus has asserted that “UFS 3.1 storage is the same storage you’ll find in phones like the OnePlus 11 Series, so your phone will still perform really well when reading and writing to memory.”
“The OnePlus 12R also still features all the new Trinity Engine features we announced at launch, like launching apps faster than ever and keeping applications locked open for up to 72 hours, and was fully tested using UFS 3.1 storage,” the company added.
The brand has also confirmed that the OnePlus 12R is fully certified by TUV SUD using UFS 3.1 memory, and so, it is claiming that the device is “still certified to remain fluent for 48 months.” OnePlus is promising that its new OnePlus 12R will “stay fast and smooth long into the future.” While we can’t talk about the long-term usage, we can say that the OnePlus 12R performed well during our tests.
