Radhika Sarathkumar Reacts To Rajinikanth’s Response To Hema Committee Report, ‘Our Silence May Set…’
Veteran Tamil actress, Radhika Sarathkumar recently reacted to Superstar Rajinikanth’s admission of his unfamiliarity with the Hema Committee’s report during a press meet in Chennai. Radhika voiced out on September 2 – she believes that Rajinikanth would have given his stance had he known about the report. However, due to his lack of awareness, he avoided passing any comment.
Recently, Rajinikanth expressed his unawareness about the shocking report from the Hema Committee. The report shed light on instances of sexual harassment, the casting couch phenomenon, and the existence of lobbying within the Malayalam film industry.
She voiced her concerns about the deafening silence coming from significant players in the industry. “Our silence may set a bad precedent. They could just come out and express solidarity with the women who have been wronged. That simple statement will give hope to the women who had gone through harassment (sic).”
In a recent conversation with a local Malayalam station, Radhika openly voiced her dismay about hidden cameras being present in the vanity vans while shooting for a Malayalam film. She further cast light on this issue during a subsequent update. The veteran actress added,”Four days ago, the Special Investigation Team called me. I commended them for being proactive and taking action immediately. They asked me for clarification. I gave them. I did not file a complaint, so there’s nothing to investigate with me.”
Radhika Sarathkumar has also voiced that it’s a common scenario for women to face queries from men about why they took so long to report harassment incidents. Radhika said, “Men often ask this question. Do you know what mindset women are in? When they are coming out, they should at least listen. We need to find a powerful committee like a strong HR team with trustworthy people to prevent such incidents going further (sic).”
Actor Vishal has recently shared his plans to launch a committee within the Tamil movie business that bears resemblances to the Hema Committee. When asked about the matter, Radhika Sarathkumar expressed she stands open to lending her voice to the cause, if asked. Besides, she voiced her solidarity with all women who have been victimised by harassment.
