In conversation with News9, Sumaiya A, Clinical Dietitian, CDE, Fortis Hospital, Kalyan told News9, “The Effects of Ramadan Fasting on Body Composition and Biochemical Parameters in Middle-Aged Obese Women: A study examined how middle-aged obese women’s body composition and biochemical markers were affected by fasting during Ramadan; the results were published in the Journal of Fasting and Health.

The findings demonstrated that fasting during Ramadan improved lipid profiles and insulin sensitivity while significantly lowering body weight, BMI, and waist circumference.”

According to these studies, fasting during Ramadan may help with weight loss and improvements in body composition; however, individual outcomes may differ according to dietary practices, degree of physical activity, and pre-existing medical conditions.
