Ravindra Jadeja Hints Return For Third Test In Rajkot, Posts Injury Update Ahead Of Squad Announcement
Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection committee is expected to announce the squad for the last three Tests as India await Virat Kohli’s return for the red-ball action. Jadeja, who missed the second Test in Visakhapatnam due to a hamstring injury, posted an update on his injury suffered during the opening Test in Hyderabad.
Taking to Instagram, Jadeja shared a picture of himself from the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru with the caption, “Getting better #NCA.”
Jadeja made a major contribution in the first innings of the opening match with a score of 87, the highest for the home side in the match and also bagged five wickets as India fell 28 runs sort of the target. In the second innings, Ben Stokes direct hit sent Jadeja (2) back to the pavilion after a mix-up with Shreyas Iyer.
Jadeja was not the only player to miss the second Test as KL Rahul was also ruled out of the match with right quadriceps pain. Rahul is also gaining full fitness after spending time at the NCA with Jadeja.
Both Jadeja and Rahul’s return to India’s middle order will add teeth to the home side’s batting line-up after Shreyas Iyer’s back issue casts doubt on his further participation in the series.
