Realme 12 Pro Plus vs Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus vs Oppo Reno 11: Which is the Best Mid-Range Smartphone?

Realme recently unveiled two new smartphones in its ‘number’ series in the form of the Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro Plus.

The Realme 12 Pro Series also features a formidable spec sheet in the mid-range smartphone segment.

However, our focus today is on the Realme 12 Pro Plus and two of its most formidable competitors, the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus and Oppo Reno 11 5G. So let’s find out, which of these is the best mid-range smartphone in India in 2024.

Design and Build

First up is design! All three phones feature unique rear panels, although the curved display theme is common across the board. Both the Realme and Redmi feature vegan leather back panels, although the latter also comes with a glass back. Lastly, the Oppo Reno 11 5G opts for a plastic back panel.

All three phones use plastic frames and have their own unique camera layouts. In terms of the build, all three phones feature glass protection on the front, although the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus stands out for the addition of flagship-grade Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus also features resistance to water and dust, while Realme tones it down a bit and Oppo’s is non-existent.

Display & Audio

All three smartphones feature curved 120Hz AMOLED displays, although both Realme and Redmi feature 2160Hz and 1920Hz PWM dimming, respectively. However, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ features a brighter display with a higher resolution.

Additionally, the Note 13 Pro Plus’s panel also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision formats. Overall, the screen on the Note 13 Pro+ is levels above its competition. Redmi and Realme have also equipped their devices with dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.

Performance

When it comes to performance, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ offers an edge over the competition with the MediaTek 7200-Ultra chipset. The Snapdragon chip on the Realme 12 Pro Plus is not too far behind, while the Oppo Reno 11 comes in a comfortable last place.

Additionally, the Readmi note 13 Pro Plus also features faster LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. While both the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ and Realme 12 Pro+ deliver solid mid-range performance, the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chip on the Reno 11 does lag behind the competition.

Cameras

For optics, the Realme 12 Pro Plus features a versatile camera setup that punches above its price. The 64 MP periscope lens is the same one used on flagship smartphones like the OnePlus 12 5G (Review) and iQOO 12 5G. Additionally, the 50 MP Sony IMX890 is the same used on premium mid-range smartphones like the Oppo Reno 11 Pro and OnePlus 12R.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ features a large 200 MP Samsung ISOCELL HP3 sensor, which should be able to capture more detail. The Oppo Reno 11 is touted to shine in the portrait department thanks to a 32 MP telephoto unit that is tailored for portrait shots.

If we had to pick one of the three, we’d opt for the Realme 12 Pro Plus’s cameras for the versatility. And outside the ultrawide lens, the Realme 12 Pro Plus also features quality camera hardware. The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ if you spend most of your time using the primary camera.

On the other hand, the Oppo Reno 11 5G is the best in the business for capturing human subjects. Lastly, both the Reno 11 5G and Realme 12 Pro+ feature a higher-resolution 32 MP selfie camera compared to the Redmi Note 13 Pro+. It is worth noting that our camera analysis was carried out based on specifications alone and not real-world testing.
