Robbery attempt on BJP Rajya Sabha candidate’s son, daughter-in-law in Lucknow
A group of miscreants allegedly tried to rob son and daughter-in-law of BJP Rajya Sabha candidate Sanjay Seth in Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow.
The incident took place on Tuesday night when the couple was returning home from a wedding function in their car. A case has been registered in the matter based on a complaint lodged by the driver of Sanjay Seth’s son Kunal Seth.
What driver said in police complaint
Kunal’s driver in his complaint alleged that some people tried to overtake the car of the BJP leader’s son while he was returning home with his wife Avni from a wedding and also attempted to loot them. This incident happened late on Tuesday night.
The driver alleged that the miscreants chased their car from Ahmamau police station area to Gautam Palli police station area and tried to overtake them several times. He also alleged that the miscreants tried to break the glass of the car. The driver said that he drove the car into Gautam Palli police station following which the alleged robbers fled.
Police dismiss allegation, term it road rage case
However, police have said that the allegations was not true and termed it a case of “road rage”. “The vehicle was traced and its driver was interrogated thoroughly. It has come to light that there was a dispute regarding road rage.
Robbery has not been confirmed and is completely untrue,” police said in a statement. Further investigating into the matter is underway, they said.
Sanjay Seth, a known real estate developer from Lucknow, is one of the BJP’s Rajya Sabha candidates from Uttar Pradesh. He is a former SP MP and was once a close aide of Akhilesh Yadav. He joined the BJP in 2019. Elections will be held for 10 Rajya Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh on February 27.
