‘Rohit Aur Virat Ko Apke Acche Dost Samjho’: Indian Fans Make Humble Request To Shaheen Shah Afridi – WATCH

New Delhi: A group of Indian fans in New York have requested Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi to go slow and low against the Men in Blue on Sunday in the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. Both India and Pakistan are in the same Group A in the tournament and had contrasting starts to their campaigns. While India started with a win over Ireland, Pakistan were handed a humiliating loss against minnows USA.
Ahead of the marquee clash, a video of Afridi with a group of Indian fans is going viral on social media. In the video, Afridi is surrounded by Indian fans who were seen talking and clicking pictures with the Pakistan star. Among them, one said, “We have come here to watch a special match, but we got a nice surprise.” Another asked Afridi to “not to bowl a good spell against India”.

Another said, “Rohit aur Virat ko apke acche dost samjho (Consider Rohit and Virat as your good friends),” before the whole group burst into laughter. Keeping his calm and composure, Afridi too had a good time with the Indian fans and gave a smile.
For the record, Afridi has played just two games against India in T20Is including the match-winning spell of 3/31 in the 2021 edition of T20 World Cup in Dubai. It was also the only time Pakistan defeated India in any World Cup game.
With conditions helpful for seamers as pointed out by India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah after the Ireland game, it won’t be a surprise if the lethal version of Pakistan’s bowling attack led by Afridi decides to show up on Sunday and put the team’s campaign back on track.
