Rohit Sharma Injured? India Captain Retires Hurt After Being Hit On Elbow During IND Vs IRE Game

New York: India captain Rohit Sharma survived an injury scare after the opener was hit by a rising Joshua Little delivery against Ireland during their Group A encounter in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 on Wednesday at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. The incident took place on the first ball of the 10th over as he tried to hit across the line.
Little bowled a length ball that kicked up off the surface and hit Rohit on the left elbow. Rohit was seen grimacing in pain before the physio came out to check on the right-hander. He left the field immediately. Earlier, Rohit was hit on the same arm and probably felt discomfort because of it.

At the time of retiring hurt, Rohit was on 52 off 37 balls with three fours and three sixes. After the game was finished, Rohit came out and signaled he was alright. As far as the match is concerned, India beat Ireland by eight wickets in their opening Group A match to start their campaign.
Later, Rishabh Pant too copped a blow on his elbow on the first ball of the 11th over, once again bowled by Josh Little. He needed some treatment from the physio but the left-hander continued to bat and finished off the match with a six.
Besides Rohit, wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant chipped in with 36 not out off 26 balls as India chased down the target of 97 with 46 balls to spare. Earlier, India’s pace quartet, led by Hardik Pandya, produced a dominant effort on a spicy pitch to bowl out Ireland for 96.
Pandya (3/27) led India’s effort with the ball and he received able support from Arshdeep Singh (2/35) and Jasprit Bumrah (2/6) after skipper Rohit elected to bowl first in their tournament opener. Giving an update on his arm, Rohit said its a ‘bit sore’. “Yeah, just a little sore (the arm),” he said after the game.
