Russia-Ukraine war live: 10 injured in missile attack on Kyiv as Moscow pounds capital
A 16-year-old girl was among those rushed to hospital on Monday after Russia launched missiles against the Ukrainian capital for the third time in five days, Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko said.
A Ukrainian parliamentarian in Kyiv joined the country’s foreign minister in pleading the international community for more air defence aid.
Kira Rudik told The Independent: “We desperately need more air defence systems, more missiles for those systems, so that we can get our sense of safety back. We need to be able to wake up in the morning and feel like we can get through the day.”
The attacks in Kyiv came as parts of the City of Odesa were plunged into darkness after a Russian air attack damaged one of the high-voltage facilities.
The administration of Odesa said on Telegram that the city and the region were attacked by several waves of drones launched by Russia. Four of the air weapons were shot down over the Odesa and neighbouring Mykolaiv regions.
Power had since been restored to two city regions by Monday morning.
