Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma laud retiring Dhawal Kulkarni after Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy triumph
Mumbai’s Dhawal Kulkarni ended his professional cricket career on Thursday which was followed by massive praises from cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma, and also Mumbai captain Ajinkya Rahane.
Kulkarni ended his career on a high as he bagged the final wicket of Vidarbha which sealed Mumbai their 42nd title win of the tournament.
Kulkarni had been a Mumbai regular and got four wickets to his name in the crucial final match, three in the first innings and the title-winning wicket in the second. It was Umesh Yadav who turned out to be his prey as he celebrated the wicket and the win with his hands aloft and was full of emotions as he led the team off the field with his teammates clapping behind him.
Soon afterward, social media was full of praise for Mumbai for yet another Ranji Trophy win, extending their record to 42 wins. The appreciation was much special from local boys Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, and even Suryakumar Yadav. Lauding Mumbai was one thing but Sachin, Rohit, and Rahane heaped massive praise on Kulkarni for his illustrious Ranji career.
Rahane goes down memory lane
After winning the match, Rahane reminisced about playing with Kulkarni since the U14 level and touring for India U19 together. ‘The way he conducts himself on and off the field, sharing his experiences with the younger boys has been really helpful for the side. He has been a role model, someone to look up to. I want to wish Dhawal all the very best in whatever he does with his future,’ Rahane said.
The 35-year-old made his first-class debut back in 2008 and ended his career with a record of 281 first-class wickets from 95 matches. He also represented Team India in 12 ODIs and two T20Is between 2014 and 2016, bagging 19 wickets in ODIs and three in T20Is.
