Hema Committee Report: Samantha Ruth Prabhu has now praised the work of the Women In Cinema Collective (WCC) and hailed the Justice Hema Committee findings. The Hema Committee was established as a consequence of the WCC’s petition to the Keralan government following actor Bhavana Menon’s assault by prominent industry figure Dileep in 2017. Samantha has also pushed for the submission of a comparable report on incidents of sexual harassment in the Telugu film industry by the Telangana government.
Samantha Reacts to Hema Committee Report Findings
In a powerful Instagram post, Samantha Ruth Prabhu called on the Telangana government to release a subcommittee report that was originally submitted by The Voice of Women, a support group established for women in the Telugu film industry (TFI). The text on the post read, “We, the women of the Telugu film industry, welcome the Hema Committee report and applaud the persistent efforts of the WCC in Kerala, which has laid the path to this moment. Taking cue from the WCC, The Voice of Women, a support group for women in the TFI (Telugu Film Industry), was created in 2019. We hereby urge the Telangana government, to publish the submitted sub committee report on sexual harassment, which can help frame government and industry policies, to establish a safe working environment for women in the TFI (sic).”
Samantha emphasized in her message that the WCC’s dedication to justice and safe working conditions served as inspiration for the creation of The Voice of Women in 2019. She pleaded with the Telangana government to release the subcommittee report that was sent in, which addresses sexual harassment in the workplace.
