Samantha Ruth Prabhu Receives Public Apology From Doctor Amid Alternative Medicine Controversy: ‘Was Unintentional…’
Samantha Ruth Prabhu has recently stirred up media interest when Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips, widely recognized as The Liver Doc, outspokenly critiqued her for disseminating misinformation about the use of hydrogen peroxide in nebulisation. He attributed her missteps to a lack of health awareness, urging that she should take responsibility for the propagation of such inaccuracies. Read on to find more details.
Samantha responded with an extensive post, where she expressed her disagreement with the doctor’s choice of words, acknowledged her limited knowledge on the topic, and politely requested the doctor to uphold more respectful communication. In her post Samantha expressed, “It would have been kind and compassionate of him had he not been so proactive with his words. Especially the bit where he suggests I should be thrown in prison. Nevermind. I suppose it goes with the territory of being a celebrity. I posted as someone who needs medical treatment and not as a celebrity (sic).”

The Liver Doc recently had an heated debate where he tackled the credibility of the two doctors Samantha mentioned in her comments, branding them as ‘imposters’ and ‘profit-seekers.’ Yet, in the same vein, he extended an apology to Samantha in his piece.
The Liver Doc, in his statement, draws attention to his comprehensive decade-long journey in the medical field, choosing to sidestep arguments with Samantha’s physicians, Mitra Basu Chillar, and Dr. Jockers. He pinpoints certain examples of their treatments, pointing out a few that are inappropriate and some that clearly violate rules.
In a descriptive post, The Liver Doc expressed, “I understand and empathise with Samantha’s health condition, and I wish her the very best. I apologise if she felt uneasy or bad about the way the message was conveyed. That was unintentional. My aim was for her to leave behind medical misinformation, peddling “doctors” who are using her vulnerability and catering to her anecdotal experiences for their own gain. I sincerely suggest that patients with chronic illnesses please continue with evidence-based medical practices to remain inside a safety net and sanctuary (sic).”
I have been fighting medical/health misinformation for the longest time and it just does not seem to end. I have come to understand that the only way to fight medical misinformation is to consistently speak about it and make examples of people who mislead and misinform.
