Samsung Reveals First Detail About Galaxy S25 Series: Enhanced AI Features with Google Integration
The future of on-device AI seems to be taking shape for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy smartphones, with rumors suggesting continued collaboration with Google and the next version of their AI model, the Gemini Nano 2.
Currently, the Galaxy S24 series uses the first-generation Gemini Nano for on-device features. However, a new rumor suggests that the Galaxy S25, which could launch as early as 2025, could be the first to feature the yet-to-be-announced Gemini Nano 2. The news comes from a report by Doum Herald Economy, a South Korean website, citing comments made by Samsung Electronics System LSI Division Executive Director Cho Cheol-min. According to the report, Cho Cheol-min recently discussed plans for the Galaxy S25 generation in a forum. Notably, these discussions include details about Google’s Gemini Nano 2, which Google itself has yet to officially unveil.
The report suggests that Samsung is planning to partner with Google once again for the Galaxy S25 flagship in 2025.
The partnership will likely use the next version of Google’s flagship model, the Gemini Nano 2, to power the S25’s on-device AI features. Details of how the Gemini Nano 2 will improve on its predecessor are currently under wraps. However, we can expect improvements in areas such as voice recognition and image processing.
Another area of speculation is the cost of these advanced AI features. In February, there were hints from Samsung’s Mobile Experience CEO that future AI features may require a subscription fee. So the upcoming Gemini Nano 2-powered AI feature won’t be completely free. The official launch of the Galaxy S25 series is months away. And it’s still not confirmed what improvements Google’s Gemini Nano 2 will bring in terms of on-device AI. So while the report hints at an ongoing collaboration between the two companies, we’ll have to wait and see how this partnership unfolds in the future.
