School Holiday Announced In Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada Due to Heavy Rain As IMD Issues Red Alert
Dakshina Kannada: In response to a red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for heavy rainfall in the district, Anganwadis, schools, and pre-university colleges in Dakshina Kannada district will remain closed today, July 6, 2024. Kannada District Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan issued an order stating the closure of Anganwadis, schools, and pre-university colleges.
“All Anganwadis, schools, and pre-university colleges on July 6, in response to a red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for heavy rainfall in the district,” reads the order issued by the Kannada District Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan, ANI reported. Apart from the closure of schools, the district administration, the district administration has also directed fishermen to refrain from going to sea for fishing activities on Saturday, July 6. “The district administration has taken precautionary measures to ensure public safety, advising citizens and tourists to avoid low-lying areas, river banks, and seashores. Fishermen have also been instructed not to venture into the sea for fishing activities,” the order further reads. A red alert has been declared in the district for today.
