Shaadi.com’s Anupam Mittal Exploring Legal Actions Against Google, Calls For Regulatory Intervention
Google might have brought Shaadi.com and other apps back on Google Play Store after a brief ban but Shark Tank India judge Anupam Mittal is exploring legal action against the tech giant.
The Shaadi.com co-founder told Times Now Tech in an exclusive interview that the ban has already had an impact on company’s downloads and overall image.
Mittal revealed that the impact on Shaadi.com will be significant, affecting its reputation, downloads, network effects, and monetisation. “First of all, the reputation has been damaged. Downloads have fallen by 40 percent. Network effects have deteriorated. Monetization has also suffered. So, on one hand, they have severely impacted our business,” he told Times Now Tech.
The Shark Tank judge also confirmed ongoing discussions and plans to meet with officials the following week. “Legal options are the work of the court. It will continue. I can’t tell you exactly what the strategy is. That will compromise my legal strategy. But, we will examine all our options,” Mittal said.
Despite Google’s considerable resources, including a team of lawyers and policy influencers, financial limitations won’t hinder their fight. “I think the Indian government is very far-reaching, far-sighted. So, I think we will find a solution here. We will not let them be greedy. We will not let them take our digital economy,” he said.
