Shocking! Businessman’s son strangled to death by ‘friends’ in Greater Noida, accused nabbed after gunfight
Seven days after a businessman’s teenage son went missing in Greater Noida, police said they arrested two of his friends, including a juvenile, after a gunfight.
They’re accused of killing him. According to police, the two suspects have confessed to the crime, admitting to killing their friend Vaibhav and disposing of his body in the Khareli canal. Despite their confession, Vaibhav’s body is yet to be recovered.
Vaibhav’s death has sparked outrage among his family members, relatives and local traders in Bilaspur town. Many businesses shut down in protest, demanding swift and strict action against the accused.
What investigations revealed
Vaibhav’s father, Aruj Singhal, had initially filed a complaint at the local Dankaur Police Station upon his son’s disappearance. Following this, an FIR was registered under the Indian Penal Code section 363 for missing persons.
Following investigations, police identified two of Vaibhav’s friends as suspects – a 19-year-old named Maj Pathan and a 15-year-old juvenile, reported PTI. A police spokesperson said that the suspects were tracked down between Dhanauri and Sakka through electronic and manual surveillance.
Gunfight between police and accused
Upon sighting the police, the suspects attempted to flee towards a field. They also opened fire at the police team. In self-defence, the police retaliated following which one of the suspects sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Despite this, the juvenile managed to escape initially but was later apprehended during a combing operation in the area. Furthermore, the victim’s Apple iPhone was seized from the accused.
