Slogans of ‘Khalistan Zindabad’ raised in front of PM Trudeau, India summons Canada’s Deputy High Commissioner

The Foreign Ministry said that Canada’s Deputy High Commissioner was summoned in connection with pro-Khalistan sloganeering at an event. This program was addressed by the Prime Minister of Canada. The Ministry said that the Government of India has expressed deep concern and strong objection to such incidents being allowed to continue.

On Monday, in the presence of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, India summoned the Deputy High Commissioner of Canada and registered a strong protest over pro-Khalistan sloganeering. The Ministry of External Affairs described the incident of sloganeering at a public event in Toronto as disturbing. The ministry said this once again reflects the political space that has been given to separatism, extremism, and violence in Canada.

The Ministry of External Affairs said that such an incident not only affects India-Canada relations but also promotes an environment of violence and crime against its own citizens.
