Subsidy on Electric Two-Wheelers Extended Until September 30 – Full Details Here

In a move to support the EV culture in India, the government has extended the dates of the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS). It was supposed to be completed on July 31 this year. Now, the dates have been pushed forward by two more months, ending on September 30, 2024.

Interested consumers still have time to avail the subsidy on electric vehicles. The updated EMPS two-wheeler costs Rs. On EVs up to 10,000, a small electric three-wheeler costs Rs. 25,000 and for larger three-wheeler EVs up to Rs. 50,000 as subsidy.

The Ministry of Heavy Industries launched EMPS in March 2024 to support 5,60,789 battery-powered vehicles in the country. Initially, the government included 3,33,387 electric two-wheelers in the benefits of the scheme, which was increased to 5,00,080. It also includes 60,709 electric 3-wheelers like e-rickshaws and e-karts.

Budget Allocation
To support this initiative, the government has also increased the budget for it. Earlier, it was Rs. 500 crore, which is now Rs. 778 crore has been made. It aims to shift people from using fuel-powered vehicles to EVs.

This update is done to promote green initiatives and promote the development of battery-powered vehicle manufacturing in the country.
