Tamil Nadu: Three migrant workers held for attempting to sabotage a train near Coimbatore
The Tea Garden Express Train running between Ernakulam (Kerala) and Karaikal in the Union Territory of Puducherry has averted a potential disaster on the railway route near Coimbatore after three migrant workers allegedly attempted to wreck the train.
The quick response of the Loco Pilot after noting stones on the railway tracks near Coimbatore alerted the authorities ensured the safety of passengers and prevented a malicious attempt to wreck the train. The trio identified as Rakesh Yadav (21), Juhal Kishor Chawhan (19), and Bablu Chawhan (31) hail from Uttar Pradesh were arrested.
According to news reports, all three of them are working in a private factory on Madhukarai Road. On last Saturday, the three tried to cross the railway tracks near SIDCO in Kurichi. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) who were on duty at the time caught them and fined the three.
After that, they went away, however, enraged by the imposition of fines, they came back to the railway track near SIDCO at 10 pm on Saturday, collected stones and iron rods from nearby places, kept them on the railway track, and escaped.
At the time, a loco pilot who operated the train on the parallel track noticed and immediately informed the Bothanur Railway Department about the presence of stones and iron on the railway track. Following this, the railway maintenance team rushed to the spot and removed the stones and iron pieces from the track.
