The final MotoGP season was held at the same location as the opening race of the F1.
In an unexpected twist, the Prima Pramac Racing team, the current MotoGP team champion, chose the Bahrain International Circuit as the venue to unveil their Ducati Desmosedici GP 2024 bikes.
This happened just before the Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix, even though MotoGP does not race on this track.
While the initial attention was focused on the team’s new black, red, and purple livery, many were also curious as to why F1 was dedicating time and space to launch a team from a rival championship.
This decision can be attributed to an existing partnership between Pramac and F1, which has been ongoing for several seasons. The collaboration first caught attention when an F1 logo appeared on the Pramac Ducatis’ seat unit a few years ago. This logo was introduced after a friendship between Pramac owner Paolo Campinoti and F1 boss Stefano Domenicali, who recently took over the helm of F1. Both parties aimed to showcase their respective sports and attract more fans to both MotoGP and F1.
In addition to strengthening this partnership, the MotoGP teams and Pramac benefit from the opportunity to present themselves on a larger stage. By unveiling their bikes to F1 media and other participants, they add a touch of glamour that is sometimes absent in the world of motorcycle racing. While this action may not revolutionize their marketing efforts, it provides a small boost to the team. This year, Pramac will feature Jorge Martin, the 2023 runner-up, and Franco Morbidelli, the 2020 runner-up, in the upcoming MotoGP season, which begins next weekend in Lusail.
