The poster of the upcoming film O Abhagi presents the protagonist as a warrior

The film O Abhagi, starring Rafiath Rashid Mithila, is set to release in theatres on March 29. Based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s story Abhagir Swargo , the film is directed by Anirban Chakraborty.

The film also stars Subrat Dutta, Debjani Chatterjee, Ishaan Mazumder, Sayan Ghosh, and Sourav Halder.

“The raw and harsh reality of rural culture has been portrayed in this film. The presentation of every audio-visual part is unique and experimental. A lot of new central characters have been added to the screenplay with the main characters created by Sarat Chandra. The challenge was to create something new without tampering the essence of the actual story,” said Anirban.

The storyline of the film is about an unparalleled battle. “So the poster had to reflect Abhagi as a warrior. She is different, she has her own beliefs and ethics. So she has to stand alone. The fire itself symbolises purity and strength. So it is an essential element or part of this poster,” said the director.

Talking about his shooting experience, Anirban said: “I believe the most exciting part of filmmaking is the shooting part. During this time all the artistes and crew members work together and try to give their best to the film. So many people gather and become a part of a family. We shot this film in various locations for a long time and we enjoyed the experience.

We started the shoot in winter and ended in summer. We were shooting in a hilly place where the temperature was really low. We shot in a deep forest at almost midnight… still, the villagers were there, till pack-up to experience a new thing. Some of them acted also in a few sequences… they were so enthusiastic,” said Anirban.
