He is one of those actors of the 90s who gained immense popularity after he made his debut. Moreover, he is counted among the most educated stars of Bollywood. He wanted to be an IAS officer but he left his UPSC preparation to try his luck in the acting world. We are talking about none other than Chandrachur Singh.
Chandrachur made his Bollywood debut with Maachis alongside Tabu. With his first film, the actor was much liked not only for his performance but also for his good looks. Born in October 1968, the actor belongs to a very affluent family. His father is an ex-MLA and his mother is the daughter of the Maharaja of Bolangir in Odisha.
Chandrachur Singh wanted to be an IAS officer but gave up UPSC preparation to be an actor. He gained a lot of fame and success in Bollywood, but at the peak of his career, the actor met with an unfortunate accident that created a turmoil in his life.
In an interview, Chandrachur revealed that he was skiing in Goa, during which he suffered a serious injury on his head. He was undergoing physiotherapy for a long time to recover. It was because of this the actor had to quit films and concentrate on his health.
In the long span of his career, Chandrachur has been appeared in films like Maachis, Josh, Dil Kya Kare, Daag: The Fire, Silsila Hai Pyar Ka, Kya Kehna, Aamdani Athanni Kharcha Rupaiya, and Zilla Ghaziabad. For the long time, Chandrachur didn’t appear in films. However, in 2000, the actor made a comeback to the silver screen with Sushmita Sen starrer Aarya. His performance was widely appreciated. Many couldn’t believe that he is the Chandrachur, on whom millions of girl used to fall for his chocolatey boy image.
Talking about his personal life, Chandrachur got married to Avantika Mankotia in 1990. The couple was blessed with a son. However, after few years of the marriage, it came out that couple had drifted apart, leaving Chandrachur with responsibility of a single father.
Reflecting on this, the actor shared, “Actually, I am a single father so that took up most of my time. I am pretty hands-on; I needed to be. So, I was occupied being a father for most of my time. I am actually not very skilled at handling social media. My son is going to teach me more about it. It is not my cup of tea so far but there will be a time when I will have much more work and I can then connect with the people about my work. Otherwise, I am not very media savvy.”
