Timo Wener swings into action straightaway as Spurs produce comeback against Crystal Palace FC

Timo Werner struck his maiden goal for his new club Tottenham Hotspur FC as the North London outfit defeated Crystal Palace FC by 3-1 in the Premier League 2023-24 on Saturday.

Werner, who formerly represented fellow London club Chelsea FC, has joined the Spurs on loan from RB Leipzig.

He converted an opportunity from close quarters in the 77th minute to inspire a tremendous turnaround by his team. Earlier, Palace had stormed ahead in the game through a fantastic free kick by Eeberechi Eze. 

 

Tottenham had not been creating adequate chances during the game, but Werner’s strike provided them theimpetus to take all three points from the contest. Cristian Romero’s header was followed by South Korean ace Son Heung-min beating Crystal Palace FC Sam Johnstone in a 1v1 situation.

Tottenham has now garnered 50 points from 26 encounters, and trails the fourth-placed Aston Villa by two points. The Eagles have bagged 28 points from 27 matches and are placed 14th in the standings at the moment.
