Toyota Innova Hycross and Crysta: Buyers Made to Wait for Upto 13 Months

Toyota’s popular models, the Innova Hycross and the Innova Crysta, have been grappling with extended waiting periods,  for the hybrid variant.

As of February 2024, while the waiting period for the Innova Crysta has slightly reduced, the Hycross’ waiting period has extended.

For the Innova Hycross hybrid, the top-spec ZX and ZX(O) trims are yet to reopen bookings, with waiting periods for the VX and VX(O) trims now reaching up to 12-13 months, an increase from late last year. Conversely, the petrol-powered Hycross in G and GX trims maintains a waiting period of around 5-6 months.

Equipped with a 172hp, 2.0-liter petrol engine or a 184hp, 2.0-liter strong hybrid, both variants come with an automatic transmission, contributing to their popularity among consumers. The demand for automatic vehicles is rising due to traffic congestion, improved fuel efficiency, and increased accessibility across vehicle segments. Automakers are responsible for prioritizing the development of automatic transmission and to meet consumer preferences

On the other hand, the Innova Crysta, powered by a single 150hp, 343Nm, 2.4-liter diesel engine, has seen a reduction in waiting period to seven months from nine at the end of 2023. This improvement follows Toyota’s resolution of irregularities in diesel engine horsepower certification testing, which led to a temporary pause in despatches in January.
