Two Indians found dead in West Africa’s Ivory Coast
Two Indian nationals were found dead in the West African country of Côte d’Ivoire, also known as Ivory Coast, the Indian embassy in the country said, while adding that it had taken up the matter strongly with the local authorities for a thorough investigation.
‘Two Indian nationals have been found dead in Abidjan. Local police is investigating the case. The Embassy is providing all possible support to the family of deceased persons and is in touch with local authorities to expedite the investigation,’ the embassy said via a post on social media platform X.
It added: ‘Two Indian nationals who were found dead in Abidjan have been identified as Mrs. Santosh Goel & Mr. Sanjay Goel. Our deepest condolences to the family. Embassy is extending all possible support to the family & coordinating with local authorities for transportation of mortal remains. We have strongly taken up the matter with the local authorities for thorough investigation.’
The Western and Central Africa regions have been a volatile place, witnessing nine coups since 2020 followed, news agency Associated Press reported. Coup leaders have accused governments of failing to provide security and good governance. Most of the coup-hit countries are also among the poorest and least developed in the world.
