UGC Chief’s big statement regarding CUET UG and NET examinations, said- Generalization of marks will end.
A statement from University Grants Commission Chairman Jagdish Kumar has come out regarding CUET-UG and NET exams. He said that the generalization of marks in the Combined University Entrance Test-Undergraduate (CUET-UG) and National Eligibility Test (NET) will be abolished this year. Kumar said, “There will be no need for generalization of marks this year as both the examinations of a subject will be conducted in the same shift.”
What is generalization?
Generalization is a process of modifying the marks of one student in such a way that they become comparable with the marks of another. This becomes necessary when the examination of the same subject is conducted in multiple sessions, with different question papers in each session. Students were raising concerns about the normalization of marks ‘unduly’ impacting their performance in the examination.
‘Will be able to conduct exams in a single day’
“Earlier we had to conduct exams over two or three days for a single subject to provide the center of first choice to as many students as possible. But this year, the adoption of the OMR system has allowed a larger number of centers to be selected,” said UGC chaff. Schools and colleges will be available in India, which will enable us to conduct examinations across the country on a single day.”
When is generalization needed?
Kumar said, “If the examination for the same subject is conducted on multiple days, then generalization is required and this is a scientific method.”
Let us tell you that this time the examinations for CUET-UG will be conducted from 15th to 24th May.
