UGC NET 2024: UGC has recently pointed out many major changes. Notification has also been issued in this regard. The registration process for the UGC NET June exam 2024 has started. Interested and eligible candidates can fill out the application form at ugcnet.nta.ac.in. By passing the UGC NET exam 2024, one gets the opportunity of appointment as an Assistant Professor in universities and colleges and a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
UGC Chairman Prof. M. Jagadish Kumar has informed on social media that students who are pursuing a 4-year Bachelor’s degree and are currently in the 8th semester will now be able to apply directly for a PhD (PhD Admission 2024). For this, it is mandatory to obtain a total of 75% marks or its equivalent grade. A large number of students are expected to get relief from this decision. Let us tell you that the UGC NET exam will be held on June 16, 2024 (UGC NET 2024 Exam Date).
Those with 4-year degree benefit
According to UGC Chairman M Jagadish Kumar, now candidates can appear for any subject in which they want to do a PhD, irrespective of the subject in which they have obtained a four-year graduation degree (PhD Admission Rules). There is also a provision for relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade for candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), Divyang, Economically Weaker Section, and other categories.
What are the 3 categories of UGC?
From the new session i.e. 2024-25, every university will have the opportunity to give admission to PhD to eligible candidates based on NET score only. UGC has created 3 categories.
First category- Those students who will be eligible for admission in PhD, JRF, and appointment of Assistant Professor.
Second Category – Those candidates who will be eligible for admission to PhD and appointment as Assistant Professor.
Third category- Those candidates who will be eligible for admission only in PhD.
