UGC: If you want to do an online or distance learning course, then there is very important news for you. UGC has banned many courses in open distance and online mode. These include engineering, medical, physiotherapy, pharmacy, nursing, dental, architecture, law, agriculture, hotel management, aircraft maintenance, visual arts, aviation and yoga. Apart from this, PhD cannot be done online and open distance mode.
Apart from this, UGC has started a new registration process to ensure transparency and avoid fraud in admission to open and distance learning (ODL) and online courses. From this academic session, students will have to register using Academic Bank of Credit ID by visiting UGC’s Distance Education Bureau (UGC-DEB) web portal deb.ugc.ac.in to get admission to ODL and online courses and create a unique ID. The new DEB-ID will be valid for life. It is mandatory only for Indian students.
