UP Police Paper Leak Case: Main Suspect Surrenders Before UP STF
In a significant development regarding the UP Police recruitment paper leak, the main suspect Arun Kumar Singh chose to surrender himself before the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF).
The UP STF immediately transferred him into the custody of the Manjhanpur Kotwali Police. Three accused have already been arrested. A case was registered at Manjhanpur Kotwali.
Earlier, a former Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel, who was discharged from service in 2022, was arrested in Delhi in connection with an investigation into the UP Police Constable Recruitment 2024 question paper leak. Pramod Pathak (40) was captured in the Mukherjee Nagar locality of Delhi by the Noida unit of the Uttar Pradesh police’s Special Task Force (STF) following a tip-off.
Last month, three of his associates were detained in Jhansi over allegations of fraud linked to the state police constable recruitment examination conducted on February 17 and 18.
The government removed Renuka Mishra as the Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board. Rajeev Krishna has been given the responsibility of the Recruitment Board. More than 48 lakh candidates had participated in more than 60,000 constable recruitment posts in Uttar Pradesh.
On February 23, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath made a decisive move by announcing the cancellation of the recruitment examination intended to fill 60,244 constable positions within the UP Police force. This pivotal decision came after a thorough assessment of the circumstances during a top-level meeting, which included prominent police and administrative figures. Notably, the examination had taken place on February 17 and 18.
The Chief Minister directed that these recruitments be conducted with full transparency within six months.

The selection process for recruitment will involve multiple stages to ensure a thorough evaluation of candidates. Initially, candidates will undergo a written examination to assess their knowledge and skills.
Following the written test, successful candidates will proceed to the next stage, which entails document verification to authenticate their credentials and qualifications. Finally, candidates will undergo a physical standards test to ascertain their physical fitness and suitability for the role.
