UP shocker: Cop ‘rapes’ woman on pretext of marriage, extorts Rs 1 lakh from her
In a horrific incident, a police officer allegedly raped a woman on the pretext of marriage, took her obscene pictures and extorted her of Rs 1 lakh.
The victim alleged that she was subjected to exploitation by a police officer, who was formerly in charge of the Civil Lines outpost in Kotwali area. The inspector is currently posted in Barkheda of Pilibhit district.
According to the victim, she came to know about the police officer in 2017, following which he allegedly raped her under the pretext of marriage and took obscene photographs. The incident reportedly occurred on June 26, 2023, when the inspector called her to his residence in Green Park and assaulted her. Subsequently, the victim claimed that the inspector assured her of marriage.
The victim further claimed that on July 10, 2023, the inspector visited her on her birthday and purportedly took away goods worth Rs 1 lakh. The victim’s school teacher lodged a complaint in this regard.
The victim received a communication on her email, reportedly from the police officer, claiming a romantic relationship spanning 10 years and asserting plans for marriage. However, when the victim attempted to discuss the matter with the inspector, he allegedly distanced himself and issued threats.
Upon filing a complaint, the victim alleged that the police officer threatened to make the compromising photographs viral and implicated her in a false case. In response to the complaint, authorities have registered a case against the inspector and initiated an investigation into the matter. The victim has been directed for medical examination as part of the ongoing investigation.
