US Consulate General Office in Mumbai gets threat mail from ‘fugitive citizen’
The US Consulate General Office in Mumbai received a threatening email from an unknown user. Police in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex have initiated an investigation and registered an FIR. However, the authorities are yet to identify the sender.

Senior police inspector Raghunath Kadam said that the email was received at around 3.45 am. He added that the email contained alarming content. Giving further information about the incident, the officer said that the subject line of the email was “Threat against US consulates”.
The email, as per the FIR, claimed to be from a fugitive US citizen facing multiple felony charges in the United States. It demanded an immediate public apology from President Biden, threatening to blow up every US consulate if the request was not met, with intentions to harm US citizens.

Following the reception of the email, the US Consulate officials promptly reported the matter to the police. Following this, the police registered a case under sections 506(2) and 505(1)(b) of the Indian Penal Code against unidentified persons.
Investigations are underway, with the police utilising resources to trace the sender. They are also scrutinising the IP address associated with the email ID.
