Volkswagen Tayron Seven-Seater SUV Interior Spied In China; Will It Launch In India?

German automobile giant Volkswagen currently sells three models in India – the Taigun, the Virtus and the Tiguan. It is now being speculated that Volkswagen might be gearing up to launch a new model in the country, named the Volkswagen Tayron.

Earlier this year, leaked images from China provided a sneak peek of the Volkswagen Tayron. Now as per a report by Autocar, the Volkswagen Tayron has been spotted once again revealing the interior of the SUV for the first time.

Volkswagen Tayron – Launch In India

The Volkswagen Tayron, essentially an elongated version of the latest Tiguan, will debut in China as the Tiguan L Pro before hitting Indian shores in 2025. The Volkswagen Tayron is anticipated to be locally assembled and positioned as a competitor to the Jeep Meridian and Skoda Kodiaq.

Volkswagen Tayron – Interior

As it can be seen in the spy shots, the Tayron closely resembles the Tiguan in terms of its interior. It features a sleek dashboard dominated by three screens: the main infotainment system, digital instrument cluster and a passenger-side display. The cabin boasts a modern layout with new-look AC vents, a wireless charging pad and a rotary drive selector. Despite a minimalist approach, the steering wheel retains traditional buttons.

The upholstery is made up of soft-touch materials, contrast stitching and sporty seats. The cabin exudes sophistication, particularly in the pictured ‘R’ variant. While the images don’t reveal the spaciousness of the seven-seater SUV, it’s anticipated to offer ample room, given the Tiguan’s spaciousness.

Volkswagen Tayron – Powertrain

The Tayron will be built on Volkswagen’s MQB EVO platform which is shared with the Skoda Kodiaq. The Volkswagen Tayron is expected to be available with multiple powertrain configurations. It is anticipated to be offered with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology and 48V system. Additionally, plug-in hybrid options with electric-only range and fast charging capabilities will be available, although the Indian variant is likely to feature a 2.0-litre petrol engine only.
