WATCH: Shreyas Iyer Mimics Sunil Narine’s Bowling Action in Buchi Babu Trophy Match

New Delhi: Star India batter Shreyas Iyer gave a shocking surprise to everyone with his new bowling skills in the ongoing Buchi Babu Tournament 2024 on August 27. He tried to imitate his KKR teammate Sunil Narine’s bowling style.
In the match between TNCA XI and Mumbai, Mumbai’s captain, Sarfaraz Khan, made a surprising tactical choice as the day neared its end. He handed the ball to Shreyas Iyer, introducing an unexpected element to the game.
In the 90th over of TNCA’s innings, Shreyas Iyer took the ball, trying to impersonate his IPL teammate, the West Indies mystery spinner Sunil Narine. As much as he tried, Iyer just could not pull off a Narine, emerging wicketless and going for seven runs in that over.

By the end of the first day’s play, TNCA XI posted a solid total of 294 for 5 in 90 overs, setting a strong foundation for the rest of the match.
Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav, key members of Mumbai’s lineup, are both eyeing a return to Test cricket. Although Suryakumar Yadav’s inclusion in the BCCI’s Test plans seems unlikely, he remains keen on representing India across all formats. In contrast, Shreyas Iyer, who initially made a strong impact in Test cricket, has been out of the red-ball scene recently. After a promising start, Iyer struggled to maintain his form and eventually lost his BCCI central contract.
