Watch: Virat Kohli’s Warm Exchange with Kane Williamson and Rashid Khan Before GT vs RCB Match in Ahmedabad

After returning to winning ways after a month, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will take on Gujarat Titans (GT) in their next match on Sunday. RCB, currently ranked 10th, cannot afford to lose this game as they look to leapfrog the points table and remain in the race for the playoffs. On the other hand, GT will be wary of new firepower. The Shubman Gill-led side are now seventh in the table with eight points from nine matches and need a win to stay afloat on the rising pole.

Ahead of the all-important clash, the marquee players of the two teams met during their training sessions at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday. Virat Kohli caught up with Kane Williamson as the two batting legends shook hands and hugged each other. The former RCB skipper also met and greeted Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan during the practice session.

RCB back on track

RCB have seen a glimmer of hope in their middle order which includes Rajat Patidar and Cameron Green. After a modest start to the season, Patidar has shown smidgens of his batting skills, especially against spinners. Green was also impressive during his 20-ball 37 against Sunrisers that took RCB past the 200-run mark. It has also helped RCB reduce their reliance on Dinesh Karthik and Mahipal Lomror, freeing openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis from the burden of scoring in almost every match.

Gujarat needs to move forward

Gujarat team needs its fast bowlers. Their pace bowling unit has been very poor throughout this IPL. Mohit Sharma (10 wickets, economy: 10.35), Umesh Yadav (7 wickets, 10.55), Sandeep Warrier (5 wickets, 10.85) have leaked runs in abundance while backup pacers like Spencer Johnson and Azmatullah Omarzai have also inspired more confidence. not Their spinners – Rashid Khan (8 wickets), R Sai Kishore and Noor Ahmed (6 wickets each) – have been steady without being spectacular.
