WhatsApp could soon let you make international payments via UPI: Check details

In a move set to revolutionise digital transactions, WhatsApp -the popular messaging app- is reportedly gearing up to introduce a groundbreaking feature: international payments through the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

Let’s delve into how this new WhatsApp feature is expected to work.

International Payments on WhatsApp through UPI for Indian users.

This is currently not available for users. But WhatsApp might be working on it as I couldn’t find anything on Google about it.

The tipster also shared screenshots of the upcoming feature but did not mention the beta version.

According to the screenshots, under the Bank account details page, a new option called “International payments” will be positioned just below the “Forgot UPI PIN” option. Upon clicking, users will likely be directed to a distinct screen where they can select the start and end dates for this functionality and activate it.

Also, users must input their UPI PIN to enable this feature.

Replying to a user, tipster mentioned that this feature is expected to support every country which is supported by GPay and PhonePe.

In my opinion, the introduction of international payments via UPI on WhatsApp could bring several benefits to users. Users can conveniently send money internationally directly through WhatsApp, eliminating the need to use separate apps or services for international transfers.

Also, integration within WhatsApp streamlines the process for users who are already familiar with the messaging app.

So, in short, this feature has the potential to simplify and enhance the way users conduct cross-border transactions
