Which women get free cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme?
Keeping in mind the diverse needs of the general public, the Central Government continuously runs various schemes for the welfare of the citizens. One such scheme is the Ujjwala Yojana, which was launched by the government in 2016. Under this scheme, free gas cylinders are provided by the government to eligible women. Let us understand which women are eligible to get free gas cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme.
Women eligible under the Ujjwala scheme:
In 2016, the Modi government launched the Ujjwala scheme to ensure that women below the poverty line do not face difficulties in cooking. Under this scheme, free gas cylinders are provided to women below the poverty line. Besides, they are also provided with gas stoves. The benefit of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is available only to women holding Below Poverty Line (BPL) cards.

To avail the benefits of the scheme, women should not already have an LPG connection. Their age should be above 18 years. Women are given the option to choose their gas agency, which includes Bharat Gas, HP Gas, and Indian Gas. It is the responsibility of the selected agency to provide cylinders to women.
How to apply for the scheme:
Women can apply for this scheme both online and offline. If a woman prefers to apply online, she has to visit the official website of the scheme www.pmuy.gov.in. Then, he/she has to click on the menu on the home page and further click on the download form option. After this the form will open and the required information will have to be filled in.
Additionally, he/she must upload all the supporting documents. She can avail the benefits of the scheme after submitting the form at the nearest agency. Alternatively, the form can also be submitted directly to the gas agency. To avail of the benefits of the scheme, it is mandatory to have a caste certificate, BPL ration card, Aadhar card, phone number, income certificate, residence certificate, and passport-size photo.
