Who Is Musheer Khan? Mumbai Youngster Who Hit Majestic Century On Duleep Trophy Debut

New Delhi: Musheer Khan struck his third First-Class century and his first ton in the Duleep Trophy during the match between India B and India A at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Thursday. His innings showcased his impressive form and solidified his reputation as a key player for the future. His performance was a significant highlight of the ongoing Duleep Trophy tournament.
Musheer Khan was India’s standout all-rounder at the 2024 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, amassing 360 runs and seven wickets across seven matches. His stellar performances, including centuries against New Zealand and Ireland, made him the second-highest run-scorer of the tournament, trailing only behind Indian captain Uday Saharan.
Born on February 27, 2005, in Kurla, Mumbai, Musheer honed his skills at Azad Maidan, guided by his father Naushad Khan, a former first-class cricketer, and his elder brother Sarfaraz Khan, who made his Test debut in 2024.
Musheer’s cricketing journey began early; he debuted in the Kanga League at just eight years old in 2013, surpassing his brother Sarfaraz’s record as the youngest debutant. His remarkable performance in the Kanga League, including a notable fifer and three-wicket haul, earned him the bowler of the tournament title. Additionally, he made an impression by dismissing Yuvraj Singh in a friendly match. These early achievements paved the way for Musheer’s continued prominence in Mumbai’s age-group cricket teams.
Musheer Khan first hogged the headlines when he scored his maiden First-Class hundred against Baroda in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 quarterfinals and converted it into a brilliant unbeaten double century on 203. The next big hundred came during the Ranji Trophy final against Vidarbha, where he scored 136 runs. In just seven First-Class matches and 11 innings thus far, Musheer has gathered 627 runs, something that underlines his consistency and potential at the domestic level.
