Ways to keep your ears healthy

Here are a few ways to keep your ears healthy and prevent deafness.

Use hearing protection for loud surroundings: If you are going to an event where the sound will be too loud, you must wear ear plugs. Sounds emitted by power tools, music concerts, firearms, aircrafts can gradually lead to hearing loss, especially if you are hearing these noises on a regular basis. Wearing earplugs will help you protect from such loud noises and reduce the risk of hearing loss.

Stop using cotton swabs: Previous research have found that cotton ear buds may do more harm than good. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) reports that cotton swabs can push earwax deeper into the ear canal to damage the eardrum and ear canal to increase the risk for hearing problems.
