Xiaomi Mix Flip Set to Be Flagship Device, While Honor Magic V Flip Aims for Female Audience
Yesterday, Honor confirmed that it will announce the Honor Magic V Flip on June 13 in China. While the company has confirmed its configuration, there is no clarity about its chipset. Xiaomi is reportedly developing its first flip-style foldable phone, the Xiaomi Mix Flip, simultaneously. Tipster Digital Chat Station revealed in a recent Weibo post how the phone will target the Chinese market.
The Weibo post above suggests that Vivo and Oppo, referred to as “blue” and “green,” have stopped updating their small foldable phones. This means that both brands plan to launch flip-style foldable phones this year. Both brands launched Vivo X Flip and Oppo Find N3 Flip last year. However, their subsequent versions are unlikely to be launched in 2024. At the same time, brands like Honor and Xiaomi are stepping up with new offerings, such as the Honor Magic V Flip and the Xiaomi Mix Flip. DCS said these devices have a hole-punch design for their large external displays, but their manufacturing conditions are different.
The Honor Magic V Flip is geared towards female consumers, with their highest configuration offering 12GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, focusing on being adequate rather than peaking in performance. The brand has already confirmed that it will come in two other variants, namely 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB. Reports indicate that it will have a 4,800mAh battery, 66W fast charging and a 50-megapixel primary camera. It will be available in black, white and pink shades.
Xiaomi, on the other hand, is positioning its upcoming model as a pure flagship. According to reports, it will have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, a 50-megapixel + 60-megapixel (2x telephoto) dual-camera setup on the back, a 32-megapixel front camera, and 67W fast charging.
