Zomato, Swiggy Hike Platform Fees In Delhi, Bengaluru: Check Revised Rates Here
Zomato, Swiggy Hike Platform Fee: Giving another jolt to their customers, food delivery platforms Zomato and Swiggy have once again increased their platform fees to Rs 6 per order from the earlier Rs 5, representing a 20 percent hike. The delivery platforms are currently charging the increased fees in Delhi and Bengaluru. Notably, this platform fee differs from the delivery fee, goods and services tax (GST), handling charges, and restaurant charges. Swiggy and Zomato will soon roll out the new fee to other cities as well.
The platform fee goes to the food aggregators to apparently control costs and increase revenues. In April, Zomato hiked its platform fee by 25 per cent to ₹ 5 per order.
It is worth noting that Zomato hiked its platform fee by Rs 25 percent to Rs 5 per order in April this year.
Last year in August, Zomato began levying a platform fee of Rs 2, which was later increased to Rs 3. Their motivation behind this move was to boost their earnings and create a financially sustainable model. The food delivery giant aims to garner daily revenues between Rs 1.25-1.5 crore from this new platform charge.
